FDP Objectives: To provide an invaluable opportunity for faculty members and researchers to expand their horizons in NLP. It also helps to identify future research needs in interdisciplinary emerging areas
FDP Outcomes: State of Art Research in Natural Language Processing
No of Participants: 140 from Punjab, Delhi, Uttarpradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu Gujarat, MadhyaPradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The Dept. of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning has organized One week national level faculty development programme (Hybrid mode) on Research advancements in Natural Language processing in technical association with ACM Hyderabad Deccan Chapter from 29th Jan to 2nd Feb,2024
The inaugural session was held on 29-01-2024 and Prof. K Narayana Murthy from University of Hyderabad was the chief guest. He said that NLP is a hotspot of exciting activities occurring at a rapid rate. Resultantly, the use cases and applications of NLP are growing by the minute, which, in turn, is accelerating the technology’s evolution. Natural language processing (NLP) is a rapidly growing field with a wide range of applications, such as machine translation, speech recognition, and text analysis. In recent years, there have been significant advances in NLP, driven by the development of new machine learning algorithms and the availability of large datasets.
Principal Prof C V Narasimhulu , addressed the gathering and said that CBIT is supporting active research in various areas which are useful to the society. Prof R Madana Mohana , Head of Dept. of AIML, addressed about the department and its ongoing activities. He told that the Department is consistently exploiting the trending curriculum, teaching and learning practices, providing scope for the students to acquire knowledge and exploring better opportunities, for those aiming for admission in prestigious institutions for their higher studies. The convenor of this FDP Prof Y Rama Devi welcomed the participants from different Universities , Industry and said that the integration of AI, ML and NLP creates a powerful systems capable of understanding, processing and generating human language, enabling a wide range of applications across different industries.

Dr. Amrith Krishna enlightened the participants with conversational AI for Education

Dr. Madichatty Srinivasulu senior Ai engineer Centific, Hyderabad was the chief guest for the valedictory programme of the FDP. He Emphasized on the need of research in NLP and applications.

One Week National Level Faculty Development Programme (Online) On Essential Mathematics For Data Science & Machine Learning
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology organized a one-week national-level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Essential Mathematics for Data Science and Machine Learning from February 5 to February 9, 2024. The FDP aimed to enhance knowledge in the field and was supervised by the esteemed management, Principal, and Head of the AI&ML Department. Dr. Prabhakar Kandukuri, Professor of AIML, served as the Convener of the FDP. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the honorable Chief Guest, Dr. C. S. Prabhu form ACM Hyderabad Deccan Chapter, along with other dignitaries.
The FDP’s first day featured keynote speakers Dr. J. Somasekar JAIN and Dr. E. Keshava Reddy, who discussed topics such as linear regression and differential geometry for machine learning. Day 2 included sessions on SVM, Optimization, Naïve Bayes, and Applications of AI&ML in Banking and Insurance. Dr. Y V K Ravi Kumar and Dr. Muruganantham Ponnusamy were the speakers for these sessions, respectively. The third day saw sessions on machine learning concepts, SVD, and multivariable calculus, conducted by Dr. Dharavath Ramesh H.N, Prof. Y. Rama Devi, and Dr. V. Sree Ramani. On Day 4, Mr. Sateesh Ambesange and Dr. Lakshmi Sireesha spoke about CNN and RNN Model Development, Federated Learning, Privacy Mechanism, and Fuzzy Logic, respectively. The final day included talks by Dr. J. Somasekar on a correlation-based recommendation system and M. Sreenivasulu on Logistic Regression.
The FDP concluded with an assessment and valedictory session, highlighting the success and learnings from the programme. Valedictory is ceremony was graced by the honorable Chief Guest Dr. Dharavath Ramesh H.N from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, along with other dignitaries. A total of 239 participants attended the FDP, including 122 from Telangana, 115 from other states in India, and 2 international participants.

Cheekati detailed how Cloud technology serves as a powerhouse, providing the necessary space and speed to handle vast amounts of data, empowering AI experts to innovate rapidly without the constraints of outdated hardware limitations. The ACM CBIT Student Chapter was appreciated for organising guest lectures for the benefit of students, while the faculty and institutional leadership were commended for establishing incubation cells, offering valuable guidance to students, and supporting them in their projects.
A major focus of the talk was the critical aspect of efficient data management within these hybrid Cloud environments, highlighted as pivotal for the success of AI/ML.
