Associate Professor and Head – Department of Mathematics

The objective of the Department of Mathematics is to transform young students into competent and motivated professionals with sound theoretical and practical knowledge, create an atmosphere which encourages research, clear thinking and determination among students by imparting quality education, cater to the emerging needs of all the students for their overall development by introducing relevant courses. To foster thinking skills among the students as logical thinkers, enabling them to function as productive citizens and prepare them well for their Scientific and Social life.

The Department of Mathematics, right from its inception since 1979 has been striving hard to become a centre of excellence in Mathematics and Computing and it has been extensively engaged in teaching and Research activities of Engineering & Sciences and encourages interdisciplinary research.

The Department has currently 14 well qualified, experienced faculty of whom 13 are Doctorates and others are pursuing Ph.D’s. The Faculty members have so far published around 150 papers in various National and International Journals and also presented 200 research papers in National/International Conferences.

The Department of Mathematics is offering 6 different courses in odd semesters, 8 different courses to even semester for all U.G students of B.E and B.Tech courses under R-20 curriculum and has introduced Scilab for CSE & IT undergraduate course in 2020 and  R-lab for CSE BE students with effect from  2021 under R-20 curriculum. It has also extended 4 open electives for all U.G students of B.E and B.Tech courses.

The Department of Mathematics also offers 2 courses for P.G students – M.Tech (AI&DS) and MCA.

The Department has also initiated ‘Ramanujan Math Club of CBIT’ in the year 2018 in which the students are given a chance to exhibit their mathematical genius and computational skills.
