Dr. Yadavalli Rajasri
Associate Professor and Head – Department of Biotechnology
The Department of Biotechnology, CBIT was established in the year 2005. Since then, the department has been imparting excellent education and hands-on research experience in the well-established domains of Biotechnology, including but not limited to Plant-, Animal-, Industrial-, Environmental- and Medical- Biotechnology as well as Computational Biology and Bioprocess Engineering.
As the field of Biotechnology is interdisciplinary, we have introduced modern domains of study viz. Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering, Bio-similar, Drug Design and Delivery, Nano-biotechnology and Structural Biology. We encourage modern analytical instrument usage to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
Our faculty and students practice participatory learning through regular visits to reputed organizations, like CSIR-CCMB, IICT, CDFD, NIAB, Dr. Reddy’s Lab at Hyderabad, and IISc-Bangalore, etc. We encourage our students to take internships in the leading R & D organizations, which gives learning beyond the curriculum. We enhance students’ leadership experience by organizing seminars, workshops, College Club activities, and career fairs at national and international levels. Our faculty and students are also engaged in addressing societal challenges through environmental initiatives/entrepreneurship for making a positive impact on society.
