The Department of English at CBIT was newly born in the month of October in 2018. With this new identity and autonomy, we are surging forth to establish and strengthen ourselves in the academic arena.
The Department has 9 well qualified, experienced faculty consisting of 5 Doctorates, with the others pursuing their Ph.Ds. Their research areas vary from Indian, Commonwealth and American Literature to Linguistics, ELT and ICT. The faculty consistently strives for professional development by doing quality research, attending and conducting seminars, presenting and publishing papers. The faculty has published research papers in reputed national and international journals.
Language Labs were established in CBIT in 2000, when the concept of Language Labs was unknown in many other engineering colleges. The Department has 6 labs altogether, the Interactive Communication Skills Lab(ICS), Computer Assisted Language Learning lab(CALL) and 4 Soft Skills Labs. The English Department offers 7 different courses to all UG and PG students of CBIT which include Technical Writing Skills, English for Research Paper Writing and Gender Sensitization.
A specially designed proficiency course is offered to weak students to improve their English Language skills.
Faculty are Convenors of various clubs in the college like Communicando, the Literary Club, Transcendent, CBIT MUN, Toastmasters which all come under Chaitanya Sahithi and also Chaitanya Chaaya and Chaitanya Srujana. These clubs are responsible for making the students confident, competent individuals and give the students creative space. Students debate, discuss, write, organize events, and become leaders of tomorrow. Chaitanya Chaaya gives conducts various workshops where students are exposed to Theatre, Drama, Filmmaking and Photography
